Terri Cotts
DHARMA LEADER, FOUNDER
In 1986 Terri Cotts (she/her) began practicing Vipassana meditation with her mentors Pujari and Abhilasha keays. Since that time she has attended many 10-day and 30-day silent retreats with them and other key teachers like Rodney Smith, Ruth Denison and Jack Kornfield. In 1994, she took Buddhist vows with Thich Nhat Hahn. A daily meditation practice has had the most profound influence on her life and teaching.
Terri has been teaching since 2001 in the Walla Walla Valley. Terri teaches with skill, authenticity and a contagious love of life.

Kumi
DHARMA LEADER, FOUNDER
Ruth Kumi Russo (she/her) is a former chemistry professor and church musician who enjoys yoga, gardening and chasing grandkids. After dancing with Buddhism haphazardly for decades, she received the precepts in 2023 from her teacher, Debra Seido Martin, a Soto Zen Teacher in the Dharma Cloud lineage. In 2025, Ruth took formal vows to place practice at the center of her life, receiving the Dharma name Kumi (“taste of the empty sky”). Kumi helps unfold Buddhist teaching at the Washington State Penitentiary. She invites us all to discover the simplicity and healing power of silence, together.
Court Morgan
DHARMA LEADER, FOUNDER
Court Morgan (she/they) has practiced meditation since 1997 and taught yoga since 2011. An ERYT500 yoga teacher and teacher trainer, Court has trained extensively in Early Buddhist practice through the Insight Meditation Society and the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. In 2022 she was encouraged to teach the dharma by longtime teachers Alexis Santos and Vance Pryor. Her teaching is somatic, playful, and compassionate, supporting practitioners in trusting their own direct experience.

Joan Bateman
RING LEADER, FOUNDER
In 1982 Joan Bateman (she/her) studied Buddhism and meditation as part of a year long travel study program in Asia. After decades of working, Joan returned to meditation and studied with the son of her Sri Lankan professor, Deva Ratnakara for 8 years. A daily meditation practice has been key to having a life with more equanimity and peace.
